Spotted a great news story for one of our valued clients – the UK Asian Dating website AsianSingleSolution.com has seen massive growth in traffic over the last year and a half.

Traffic to the site has grown more than 400% since January 2009, and the site now attracts 30,000 individuals every month, making 90,000 visits.

Lots been going on lately and more tweeting between Dave B and myself than olde world blogging. Just occurred to me that we’ve had a few sites released to the real world lately that need a bit of an introduction.

FXRecruiter recruitment website for this large, well established and friendly Nottingham recruitment firm.

The first rung on the ladder to online presence, a simple site to showcase the products and services of this rather niche company. EDS have existed for years on a single homepage with basic contact info. By building them a well structured website that follows good architecture practice, Google now can start to return search results for EDS, and traffic is coming in in very promising quantities.

New Buschbeck Online Shop on Magento E-commerce Platform

We recently launched a new online shop for Buschbeck Masonry Barbecues. It is the first time we have used the Magento open source e-commerce system. Both we and the customer are very impressed with the system so far.

We have previous experience of using osCommerce and CubeCart for developing e-commerce sites and both have their strengths and weaknesses. osCommerce suffers from having too many developers working for “free” and we often find we have to finish developing part-written code, which can be annoying when you are working on a fixed price quote! CubeCart is a great, sensibly priced and properly supported system but can be a little too basic for some sites, although we do recommend it for small sites with basic needs for its ease of set up and use.

We feel Magento has a lot to offer online retailers and certainly helps create a feature-rich online shop with very sophisticated back-office functionality. Some of it can look a little daunting at first, but once you get to grips with it, you can see how the advanced functionality can help you run your site. Magento is commercially-backed for those looking for support, as well as being open source, thereby allowing developers to download and develop for free. There is a community of plug-in developers selling add-on functionality for various functions.

Definitely one to watch…

Refrigerated Vehicles Factory Tour – not your average day out

I’m working at the moment to help a client – Solomon Commercials – get more search traffic for their website. They make Refrigerated Rigid truck conversions that you and I have probably driven past a thousand times or more on the roads without giving them a second thought.

Having spent a while in meetings with them and trying to understand the nature of this fairly niche industry – I had the great pleasure of a tour round the factory earlier today. I lit up like a little boy. A real, full on, heavy machinery factory tour. I’ll never look at a refrigerated panel van or truck in the same way ever again.

Manchester International Festival website launched

It’s a great project to work on – and we’re always happy to work with Stiff Rowlands whose designs are always so well thought out.

Pop Music quiz – check your UK chart knowledge

One of our latest clients has one of those sites you just don’t want to leave. Ultquiz.co.uk is the official UK Chart quiz website in association with the official UK charts. On the site, you can test your chart knowledge against your friends. Who knows – you could even knock Suffolk’s Stewart Lennox off the top spot in the hall of fame. Stewart’s knowledge on his chosen years of 2003-2006 gained him a massive 38,160 points.
